Coupled with the software updates to MacOS and iOS, this marks a significant milestone for users. For business using Jamf, Apple’s updates bring more features, that can all be deployed to fleets securely and efficiently. These announcements aren’t just about cool gadgets—they’re about making Apple devices even more useful for work and protecting users.

We look at some of the top features that may benefit Enterprise users.

iPhone 16

Apple’s iPhone 16 series was one of the headline announcements at its 2024 event, and it’s packed with innovations that build on its predecessors. From performance upgrades to design tweaks and camera improvements, the iPhone 16 continues Apple’s trend of pushing boundaries in smartphone technology.

A18 Chip & Apple Intelligence

The iPhone 16  powered by the A18 chip, which enables Apple Intelligence—Apple’s new AI system. This integration allows the iPhone to handle tasks more intuitively, like real-time object recognition with the camera.  This enhanced AI offers smarter, quicker results without draining your battery.

Design and Display

The iPhone 16 series maintains Apple’s signature sleek design but adds subtle improvements. The Pro models feature a more robust and dynamic 120Hz ProMotion display, ensuring smoother scrolling and better responsiveness. The new Pro lineup features the thinnest borders of any Apple product and introduces larger display sizes: 6.3 inches on iPhone 16 Pro and 6.9 inches on iPhone 16 Pro Max — the largest iPhone display ever.

Improved Battery Life

The internal design of iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus has been reengineered to allow for an even larger battery , while making battery service easier. With the new internal design and advanced power management of iOS 18, the batteries are optimised to offer a big boost in battery life.

Camera Control

The iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models come with a new camera control button, letting you quickly access and adjust camera settings without needing to reposition your grip. The 5x optical zoom telephoto lens and AI-powered enhancements make it a top choice for photographers. The improved camera performance combined with Apple Intelligence means that photos are clearer, better lit, and more detailed, no matter the situation.

Expanded Communication and Safety Capabilities

Powered by the same groundbreaking technology as Emergency SOS via satellite, users are now able to connect to the nearest satellite to send and receive texts, emoji, and Tapbacks over iMessage and SMS while outside of cellular and Wi-Fi coverage. Messages are also end-to-end encrypted. Emergency SOS Live Video allows users to share a live video feed or photos with emergency services during an emergency call.

Apple Intelligence

Apple Intelligence is deeply integrated into iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia. It harnesses the power of Apple silicon to understand and create language and images, take action across apps, and draw from personal context to simplify and accelerate everyday tasks — all while protecting users’ privacy and security.

Many of the features that power Apple Intelligence run entirely on the device, and Private Cloud Compute offers the ability to flex and scale between on-device processing and larger, server-based models that run on dedicated Apple silicon servers.

The first set of Apple Intelligence features will be available next month, delivering experiences that are delightful, intuitive, easy to use, and specially designed to help users do the things that matter most to them.

With Writing Tools, users can refine their words by rewriting, proofreading, and summarising text nearly everywhere they write, including Mail, Notes, Pages, and third-party apps.

Siri also becomes more deeply integrated into the experience and gets a brand-new design with an elegant glowing light that wraps around the edge of the screen when active. With richer language-understanding capabilities, communicating with Siri is more natural and flexible. Users can type to Siri at any time, and switch fluidly between text and voice as they accelerate everyday tasks.

Apple Watch Series 10

Apple’s Watch Series 10 is all about improving design and functionality, with new features aimed at health and efficiency. The new S10 SiP was engineered to achieve a thinner profile, and designed for performance, power efficiency, and intelligence. One of the biggest changes is its 10% slimmer body, making the watch more comfortable to wear throughout the day while maintaining all-day 18-hour battery life.

Health Features

One of the standout new health features is sleep apnea detection, for those looking to monitor and improve sleep quality. With the Apple Watch Series 10, the device can track irregular breathing patterns during sleep and alert users if it detects signs of sleep apnea . This health tool, paired with Apple’s existing heart rate and blood oxygen sensors, makes the watch a powerful personal health monitor.

Thinner and Lighter Design

The Series 10 is not only slimmer but also lighter, making it more wearable for fitness enthusiasts and casual users alike. It also introduces new strap options, including additional titanium loop bands, adding a touch more of premium quality and personalisation.

Improved Display

The bigger and brighter OLED display ensures that even in sunlight, the screen remains highly visible. The large display is perfect for glancing at fitness metrics, reading notifications, or interacting with apps directly from the wrist. As a result, the display is also up to 40 percent brighter than Series 9.

Industry Benefits

The Apple Watch Series 10 paired with Jamf’s device management capabilities allows for secure monitoring and deployment of these wearables whether it be to users or in the Health space to Patients. Jamf helps to ensure that health data remains secure and devices are fully integrated within the organisation.

macOS and iOS 18 – Available 16th September

macOS Sequoia is full of exciting new capabilities, including iPhone Mirroring, which expands Continuity by enabling full access to and control of iPhone directly from macOS. Safari gets another update with the new Highlights feature for effortless information discovery on webpages while browsing. The new Passwords app makes it even easier to access passwords and organise credentials all in one place. Users can also stay organised with new ways to arrange windows into a layout that works best for them. When a user drags a window to the edge of the screen, Sequoia automatically suggests a tiled position on their desktop. The new presenter preview makes it easier to present, letting users see what they’re about to share before they share it, and works with apps like FaceTime and Zoom.

iOS 18

iOS 18, features more customisation options, with the biggest redesign ever of the Photos app, new ways for users to manage their inbox in Mail, Messages over satellite, and so much more. Users will be able to arrange apps and widgets in any open space on the Home Screen, customise the buttons at the bottom of the Lock Screen, and quickly access more controls in Control Centre. Photo libraries are automatically organised in a new single view in Photos, and helpful new collections keep favourites easily accessible. Mail simplifies the inbox by sorting email into categories using on-device intelligence, and all-new text effects come to iMessage.
